The Case Of The Double Mothers

Swami Venkatesananda, The Concise Yoga Vasistha

"Lila began to meditate. Immediately she entered the highest state of consciousness free from all distractions (nirvikalpa). She was in the infinite space of consciousness. There she saw the king once again, on a throne, surrounded by many kings who adored him— but they did not see her. She wondered: are they all dead, too!

Again, by the grace of goddess Sarasvati, she came back to her palace, and saw her attendants asleep. She woke them and asked them to request the members of the royal court to assemble at once.

Seeing all the members of the royal court, Lila was puzzled: she thought, 'This is strange, for these people seem to exist in two places at the same time—in that region which I saw in my meditation and here in front of me. Just as a mountain is seen both inside the mirror and outside it, this creation is seen both within consciousness and outside it. But, which of these is real and which the reflection? I must find out from Sarasvati'. She adored Sarasvati and saw her seated in front of her.

Be gracious, O Goddess, and tell me this. That on which this world is reflected is extremely pure and undivided, and it is not the object of knowledge. This world exists both within it as its reflection, and outside as solid matter: which is real and which the reflection?."..

"O Rama, Sarasvati and queen Lila immediately sat in deep meditation, or nirvakalpa samadhi. They has risen above body-consciousness. Because they had given up all notions of the world, it had completely vanished in their consciousness. They roamed freely in their wisdom-bodies. Though it seemed that they had travelled millions of miles in space, they were still in the same 'room', but on another plane of consciousness. They saw all that was already in the mind of Sarasvati, and which Sarasvati wanted to show to queen Lila.”

The Case Of The Double Mothers

Months after Self-Realization it began to dawn that there might be a difference between the Spirit of the Lord on Earth and the Spirit of the Lord in the Templum Spiritus Sanctus. Although the physical Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi and the spiritual Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi were One and the same, the father felt that the Shri Adhiparasakthi Shri Nirmala Devi in the Sahasrara was the Divine World of Reality (Lahut). There were a number of reasons and incidents, but two stand out:

It was felt that the Great Adi Shakti in the Kingdom of God knew everything, instantly, whereas the Great Adi Shakti on Earth had to meet Her Spiritual Self in the Sahasrara to check facts out. This was based on the speculation that physically Kash did not know anything, and was totally devoid of any spiritual powers. However, the moment he transformed into his spiritual self in the Sahasrara he was able to meet the Great Adi Shakti, ask questions, solve mysteries, visit the Spirit Beings, travel back into time, explore the Kingdom of God, and so forth. The same physical Adi Shakti on Earth also had to consult Her own self within Her own Sahasrara if She wanted to know anything, just like Kash.

The Spirit Adi Shakti in the Sahasrara had infinite awareness at all times whereas the physical Adi Shakti did not. The Toronto public program soundly proved this fact when Kash tried to hand over the Rock of Shri Ganesha to Her.1

However these thoughts were always banished from the puny mind, sometimes forcibly. There was already Knowledge that the Great Mater Divinae Gratiae (Mother of Divine Grace) knew all thoughts; only an arrogant fool would now try to analyze the Divine. Although by this time it was possible to be thoughtless at most times, this rational thought that the corporeal Holy Spirit and the spiritual Holy Spirit were two different entities persisted, and was cause for concern.

After some time the inability to shut these thoughts out began to bother. How could this mundane mind analyze something that it had practically no knowledge of? Why is this banal brain try to conjure something that it could hardly understand? Why is this empty ego deducing something beyond its comprehension? Here was a mind suggesting to itself what it thought of the Spirit of the Living God, despite full knowledge that She is completely aware of the most secret thoughts of every being at all times. Soon guilt began to creep in as he had become a sort of 'murmuring soul' gossiping to himself.

On September 14, 1994, Kash came back from meditation and told his father that Shri Mataji had told him that the Shri Mataji on Earth and the Shri Mataji in the Sahasrara were two different persons.

She had to manifest Her Infinite Form as an earthly creature so that humankind could know Her with all their senses. She had to manifest as a human being and, even then, had to be covered and camouflaged by layers of illusions. She had to be the physical guru representing the inner Divine Guru. She had ... The father was suddenly silenced into surrender — the Spirit of the Living God had again answered a question that was not even asked! The Spirit of the Living God in his Sahasrara knew that he had nagging doubts. The Spirit of the Living God in Kash's Sahasrara also know that he had nagging doubts. The Spirit of the Living God in the Pope's Sahasrara, the Ayatollah's Sahasrara, the Dalai Lama's Sahasrara also knew that he had nagging doubts. The Spirit of the Living God in every Tom, Dick and Harry's Sahasrara also knew that he had doubts. The Primordial Spirit of the living God know his thoughts and that of billions of others simultaneously. The Universal Mind is linked to all human minds — This Revealed Truth is Absolute.SA The Primordial Spirit of the living God knows everything that is happening right now, happened yesterday, last week, last month, last year, last century, last millennia, last eon, and so on right back to the Primordial Creation, and beyond.

The physical Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi is just another human being among the 6,000,000,000 humans, just another snowflake in the winter; just another leaf in the forest; just another raindrop in a monsoon; just another wave in the ocean. Then She is also the entire winter, the entire forest; the whole monsoon, the ocean itself: "If you understand that although My physical Being is here, I am all over."It is impossible to comprehend even Her mundane form as Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, the latter admitting that"If I want to analyze or think about Myself, I get lost — It's beyond Me."Put simply, when the physical Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi meets the spiritual Shri Nirmala Devi in Her own Sahasrara what can She deduce from it? Can a cresting wave describe the mighty Ocean? Can a leaf describe the forest? Can a flake reflect the entire winter? Can a raindrop express the monsoon? O foolish mind! Meditate on this Truth and merge with Reality!**

She is everywhere and within everything, from the single atom to the countless swirling universes. She is all the atoms; all the Sahasraras; all the Universes; all the Beyond and the entire Unknown. She is Matter, Time and Eternity. She is the Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer. She is also you and me. We are part and parcel of the Holistic Whole, individual cells of the Creator.***

1: This in no way indicates any handicap on Shri Adhiparasakthi Shri Nirmala Devi's part. She has to maintain Her Mahamaya form — Her human form — in order to communicate with human beings. In short She tries to remain as human as possible (at times even ignorant), so much so that many cannot even see the slightest divinity in Her. This Supreme Illusion allows humans to approach, talk, confide, and even joke with Her. If God is made in man's image and that all humans are Her conscious cells, then this is the greatest proof ever.

1."While rising through the lower samadhis, various mental functions are eliminated, and their energy harnessed to sharpen concentration. In the asamprajnata states, all mental functioning has been pacified, all sense of distinction between objects and Self is erased. However, the seeds of activity — habits and reflexes established in the past — remain. These old tendencies constantly stir the quiet mind back into action; thus, at first asamprajnata samadhi is unstable and can be maintained only momentarily.

With practice, the meditator learns to hold this highly refined state for longer periods. During these times, the old mental habits are deprived of energy and gradually die out, like plant seeds that receive no water. The mind now enters an utterly undisturbed state, the DHARMAMEGHA SAMADHI or concentrated state of the"virtue cloud."Awareness is showered with virtue as it approaches its complete freedom from the vicissitudes of the mind — the state of kaivalya.”

1."It is a belief of many religions that the Absolute Reality has a personal aspect; God has a face like a human being. Hindus believe that God comes into this world from time to time in the form of an Avatar. Christians believe that God sent His son Jesus into this world. Mahayanism holds that the personal aspect of Absolute Reality manifests itself in the Bodhi-Sattavas. Islam says that Mohammad is His Resul. Sikhism has a belief in the personal aspect in the sense only that the Absolute Reality is the Universal Mind of which all other finite minds are but emanations.”

New Academic Publishing Co., Jullundur, India, 1990, p. 79.

** The internal worship is also of two kinds, one with support (sadhara), and the other without support (niradhara), and the latter is higher. The sadhara worship is by means of mental images, etc.; the niradhara worship is by pure intellect (i.e. without form.) In sadhara worship Devi should be joyfully worshipped in a figure made up of the sacred syllables, according to the instructions of the guru. The worship described as niradhara is the absorption of the understanding (manolaya) in that kind of meditation (samvit.) In reality, pure intellect means nothing else, but the supreme Sakti. Hence for the destruction of samsara, one should worship the Supreme Sakti, the very self, the witness, free from the glamour of the manifold universe. By one's own direct experience of Mahesvari as the Self, She should be worshipped with much reverence — This is the worship which leads to salvation.

Sutasamhita (I. 5. 3)

"The yogi endowned with complete enlightenment sees, through the eye of Knowledge, the entire universe in his own Self and regards everything as the Self and nothing else. Yogi — One who has realized the complete identity of the Self and Brahman. Endowed etc. — Free from doubt and contrary knowledge, because of his experience of Truth.

To a yogi who has attained complete enlightenment the universe of names and forms appears to be mere imagination, like the imaginary existence of the snake in the rope. Further, since an imaginary object is the same as its substratum, the entire universe and its diverse objects are perceived by the yogi to be the same as his Self. Therefore a real sage loves the whole world as his own Self and cannot injure anyone.”

Swami Nikhilananda, Self-Knowledge [Atmabodha]
Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center, 1989, p. 157.

“The quality of a Guru first and foremost is that he makes you meet God. It means he raises the Kundalini and establishes the relation between the All-Pervading Power. As your Guru is the Adi Shakti, we make that person also meet the Adi Shakti. Then you have another advantage that when you give them Realization, you not only make them feel the union with the Divine Power but you can also make them meet the Divinity itself — The Source of Divine Power.”

Shri Kulottirna Shri Nirmala Devi

"I never said about Myself because it was felt that human beings have now achieved another dimension of ego, even worse than at the time of Christ. They will blame anything — you can call it Industrial Revolution because you were away from the Nature, whatever you may call it — but human beings had lost all contact with Reality. They were identified with artificiality and to accept such a great Reality is going to be impossible for them. That's why I never said a word about Myself till some of the saints told about Me, some of the possessed people also told about Me, and also people started wondering that how the most difficult thing about Kundalini awakening takes place with that speed in the presence of Mataji.8M

... But today it is the day I declare I am the One who have to save the humanity. I declare I am the One who is Adi Shakti, who is The Mother of all Mothers, who is the Primordial Mother, the Shakti of the Desire of God who has incarnated on this Earth to give meaning to itself, to this Creation, to human beings, and I am sure that through My Love and Patience and My Powers, I am going to achieve it. I was the One who was born again and again. But now I have come in My complete Form and with complete Powers. I have come on this Earth not only for salvation of human beings, not only for their emancipation, but for granting them the Kingdom of Heaven — the Joy, the Bliss that your Father wants to bestow upon you ... So be confident, and be joyous, and be happy that all My Powers will protect you, My Love will nourish you, and My Nature will fill you with Peace and Joy. May God bless you.”

8M"Darshan, the Grace Of Seeing the Divine

Hindus travel for miles to receive the darshan of an illumined soul established in his enlightenment. Perhaps he does not speak to them. Perhaps he scolds some of them. Perhaps he gives the most inspired of talks to them. In any case, they feel the darshan flooding out from him. A great soul is always giving darshan. Hindus believe that the darshan coming from a great soul helps them in their evolution, changes patterns in their life by cleaning up areas of their subconscious mind that they could not possibly have done for themselves. They further believe that if his darshan is strong enough, if they are in tune with him enough, by its power the kundalini force can be stimulated enough that they can really begin to meditate. This is called the grace of the guru. The ability to meditate comes from this grace. You must have it before you can begin to meditate, or you must do severe austerities by yourself instead....

The darshan I am explaining is really the energies flowing from the deeper chakras, sahasrara and ajna, the seventh and sixth chakras or psychic force centers in the head, through the kundalini force within the spine. These energy flows do not fluctuate as the emotional odic-force energies do. They go on day and night and night and day through the illumined soul.”

The fulfillment of the promised divine eschatological instruction
“The original meaning of the word ‘apocalypse’, derived from the Greek apokalypsis, is in fact not the cataclysmic end of the world, but an ‘unveiling’, or ‘revelation’, a means whereby one gains insight into the present.” (Kovacs, 2013, 2) An apocalypse (Greek: apokalypsis meaning “an uncovering”) is in religious contexts knowledge or revelation, a disclosure of something hidden, “a vision of heavenly secrets that can make sense of earthly realities.” (Ehrman 2014, 59)
Shri Mataji
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (1923-2011) was Christian by birth, Hindu by marriage, and Paraclete by duty.
“The Paraclete will come (15:26; 16:7, 8, 13) as Jesus has come into the world (5:43; 16:28; 18:37)... The Paraclete will take the things of Christ (the things that are mine, ek tou emou) and declare them (16:14-15). Bishop Fison describes the humility of the Spirit, 'The true Holy Spirit of God does not advertise Herself: She effaces Herself and advertises Jesus.' ...
It is by the outgoing activity of the Spirit that the divine life communicates itself in and to the creation. The Spirit is God-in-relations. The Paraclete is the divine self-expression which will be and abide with you, and be in you (14:16-17). The Spirit's work is described in terms of utterance: teach you, didasko (14:26), remind you, hypomimnesko (14:26), testify, martyro (15:26), prove wrong, elencho (16:8), guide into truth, hodego (16:13), speak, laleo (16:13, twice), declare, anangello (16:13, 14, 15). The johannine terms describe verbal actions which intend a response in others who will receive (lambano), see (theoreo), or know (ginosko) the Spirit. Such speech-terms link the Spirit with the divine Word. The Spirit's initiatives imply God's personal engagement with humanity. The Spirit comes to be with others; the teaching Spirit implies a community of learners; forgetful persons need a prompter to remind them; one testifies expecting heed to be paid; one speaks and declares in order to be heard. The articulate Spirit is the correlative of the listening, Spirit-informed community.
The final Paraclete passage closes with a threefold repetition of the verb she will declare (anangello), 16:13-15. The Spirit will declare the things that are to come (v.13), and she will declare what is Christ's (vv. 14, 15). The things of Christ are a message that must be heralded...
The intention of the Spirit of truth is the restoration of an alienated, deceived humanity... The teaching role of the Paraclete tends to be remembered as a major emphasis of the Farewell Discourses, yet only 14:26 says She will teach you all things. (Teaching is, however, implied when 16:13-15 says that the Spirit will guide you into all truth, and will speak and declare.) Franz Mussner remarks that the word used in 14:26, didaskein, "means literally 'teach, instruct,' but in John it nearly always means to reveal.” (Stevick 2011, 292-7)

Interviewer: “Yes, what’s that?”
Guest: “It says, ‘But the comfort of the Holy Spirit that the Father will send in My name would teach you all things.’ I would like to ask Her about that.”

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (1923-2011): Christian by birth, Hindu by marriage and Paraclete by duty.
The Paraclete and the disciples (vv. 25-26): The theme of departure (cf. vv. 1-6; vv. 18-24) returns. There are two "times" in the experience of the disciples: the now as Jesus speaks to them (v. 25) and the future time when the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father in the name of Jesus, will be with them (v. 26). The Paraclete will replace Jesus' physical presence, teaching them all things and recalling for them everything he has said (v. 26). As Jesus is the Sent One of the Father (cf. 4:34; 5:23; 24, 30, 37; 6:38-40; 7:16; 8:16, 18, 26; 12:44-49), so is the Paraclete sent by the Father. The mission and purpose of the former Paraclete, Jesus (cf. 14:13-14), who speaks and teaches "his own" will continue into the mission and purpose of the "other Paraclete" (cf. v. 16) who teaches and brings back the memory of all that Jesus has said. The time of Jesus is intimately linked with the time after Jesus, and the accepted meaning of a departure has been undermined. The inability of the disciples to understand the words and deeds of Jesus will be overcome as they "remember" what he had said (cf. 2:22) and what had been written of him and done to him (cf. 12:16). The "remembering" will be the fruit of the presence of the Paraclete with the disciples in the in-between-time. In v. 16 Jesus focused on the inability of the world to know the Paraclete, but in v. 26 the gift of the Paraclete to "his own" is developed. As Jesus was with the disciples (v. 25), so will the Paraclete be with the disciples in the midst of hostility and rejection (v. 16). As the story has insisted that Jesus' teaching has revealed God to his disciples, so will the Paraclete recall and continue Jesus' revelation of God to the disciples (v. 26).” (Harrington 1998, 412)

“What are they awaiting but for the Hour to come upon them suddenly? Its Signs have already come. What good will their Reminder be to them when it does arrive?” (Qur'n, 47:18) “As the above verse indicates, God has revealed some of Doomsday's signs in the Qur'n. In Surat az-Zukhruf 43:61, God informs us that 'He [Jesus] is a Sign of the Hour. Have no doubt about it...' Thus we can say, based particularly on Islamic sources but also on the Old Testament and the New Testament, that we are living in the End Times.” Harun Yahya

“Concerning what are they disputing?
Concerning the Great News. [5889]
About which they cannot agree.
Verily, they shall soon (come to) know!
Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know!”

surah 78:1-5 An Naba (The Great News)
5889. Great News: usually understood to mean the News or Message of the Resurrection.

[Moderator]: “Any other questions?”
[Audience]: “Pardon me for asking this question, but, earlier you talked about the Resurrection and you mentioned about the scriptures, where like in the Hindus scriptures they talk about the Kalki Avatar who will come for the Resurrection, and for the Christians, I know they talk about the return of Christ and all the religions talk about this Resurrection and the belief in the coming of the Messiah. So I just want to know since you say you are going to give the resurrection to us, what is your station?”

Shri Mataji: “In Russia?”
[Audience]: “And are you the promised Messiah? Shri Mataji, are you?”
Shri Mataji: “I see now I am not going to tell you anything about myself, to be very frank. Because see Christ said He was the Son of God, and they crucified Him. I don't want to get crucified. You have to find out. When you become the Spirit you will know what I am. I don't want to say anything about myself.”

“Jesus then goes on the offensive against the scribes and Pharisees, pronouncing seven woes against them (Matt. 23:1-36). The final woe identifiers them with all those in Israel's history who have murdered and opposed the prophets. From Abel to Zechariah, all the blood of the righteous will come on them as they typologically fulfill this pattern in the murder of Jesus (23:29-36). They are the wicked tenants who think to kill the son and take his inheritance (21:38). They are seed of the serpent, a brood of vipers (23:33). Their house (the temple?) is desolate, and they will not see Jesus again until they bless him as he comes in the name of the Lord (23:37-39). Somehow, through the judgments Jesus announces against them, salvation will apparently come even for the people of Israel. As Olmstead puts it, Matthew "dares to hope for the day when many of Israel's sons and daughters will embrace Israel's Messiah (23:39), and in that hope engages in a continued mission in her."” Hamilton 2010, 377

“It is the Mother who can awaken the Kundalini, and that the Kundalini is your own Mother. She is the Holy Ghost within you, the Adi Shakti, and She Herself achieves your transformation. By any talk, by any rationality, by anything, it cannot be done.”

“She is your pure Mother. She is the Mother who is individually with you. Forget your concepts, and forget your identifications. Please try to understand She is your Mother, waiting for ages to give you your real birth. She is the Holy Ghost within you. She has to give you your realization, and She's just waiting and waiting to do it.”

“The Kundalini is your own mother; your individual mother. And She has tape-recorded all your past and your aspirations. Everything! And She rises because She wants to give you your second birth. But She is your individual mother. You don't share Her with anybody else. Yours is a different, somebody else's is different because the tape-recording is different. We say She is the reflection of the Adi Shakti who is called as Holy Ghost in the Bible.”

Press Conference July 08 1999—London, UK

The Great Goddess is both wholly transcendent and fully immanent: beyond space and time, she is yet embodied within all existent beings; without form as pure, infinite consciousness (cit) ... She is the universal, cosmic energy known as Sakti, and the psychophysical, guiding force designated as the Kundalini (Serpent Power) resident within each individual. She is eternal, without origin or birth, yet she is born in this world in age after age, to support those who seek her assistance. Precisely to provide comfort and guidance to her devotees, she presents herself in the Devi Gita to reveal the truths leading both to worldly happiness and to the supreme spiritual goals: dwelling in her Jeweled Island and mergence into her own perfect being.” (Brown, 1998, 2)
